Drawings, pictures and writing are copyright of the author Robbie Kennedy Bennett. THE GLENBUCK CHERRYPICKER FROM AYRSHIRE. A story poem about one of Glenbucks youngsters who became a legend. This Ayrshire mining village produced about 50 professional footballers. It is debatable if he ever played for the Cherrypickers first team as an adult because they disbanded. His father, who was a good middle distance runner in his time, was involved in the club. This youngster would have trained with the team, and visulised his dream. Sadly on my visit to Glenbuck in 2004 to see a stone of his achievements, the village was long gone.
