Runners Run Your Mile,
Bring Scotland Home In Style.
When I hear the pipers play,
Mental images spiral out of control.
The pipes they stir my aging heart,
They wake my very soul.
That’s my great grandfather playing,
And his father is saying,
We’re playing for Scotland,
And we’re playing for you.
We’re playing for Scotland,
Delighted, that you’re listening too.
Every time a Scottish goal is scored,
And when I cheer a hard earned rugby try.
My imagination like St Andrews flag flies high.
That’s my great grandfather playing,
And his father is saying,
We’re playing for Scotland,
And we’re playing for you.
We’re playing for Scotland,
Delighted, that you’re watching too.
Runners run your mile,
Bring Scotland home in style.
Boxers, swimmers and every athlete,
Draw strength, from a regimental drumbeat.
That’s my great grandfather playing,
And his father is saying,
We’re playing for Scotland,
And we’re playing for you.
We’re playing for Scotland,
Delighted, that you’re listening too.
