On September 5th 1931 the 22 year old Celtic and Scotland goalkeeper John Thomson tragically died from his injuries after diving at the feet of Rangers forward Sam English. It is said that whenever Celtic are playing in Fife, a wreath is placed at his final place of rest in Bowhill Cemetery. The epitaph on John Thomsons gravestone, They never die who live in the hearts they leave behind. On November 6th 2006 I sent a copy of the poem to Tom Greig, the author of, My Search for Celtics John, and within no time he had replied with thanks and complimented my work. You have composed a moving tribute, long may you continue to write, were amongst his words. His reply was inspirational having came from a man who is an expert on the life of John Thomson, the Laddie frae Cardenden.
