Story Behind The Poem ©
Not surprisingly on my part from a simple conversation with a colleague of mine when talking about his ancestry, came the idea to write the above poem, The Sculpture Came From Kelso.
After completing my poem about James Forsyth I needed a picture to present with it. A photo I had seen showed the Market Place in Dudley many years ago car free. On Sunday lunchtime 7th September 2008 when I arrived to take a photograph there was an endless amount of cars, and to get a few suitable shots was a problem. After about an hour of watching the coming and going of the vehicles I had to settle with the pictures I had.
Dudley has a great history and the fountain in the Market Place is part of its character. One can only hope that they look after what they have to help to preserve works of art, such as the fountain, for future generations to see.
