Sparkle o’ th’ salty sea, artistically attracting me,
Pursuing life there on th’ shores o’ Fife.
Land for miles seems endlessly I walk and wander tirelessly,
Pursuing life there on th’ shores o’ Fife.
The bays and braes along th’ shores o’ Fife
Occasionally an abandoned home I stumble on as I roam,
Pursuing life there on th’ shores o’ Fife.
A separate time an equal place a person with a different face,
Pursuing life there on th’ shores o’ Fife.
The bays and braes along th’ shores o’ Fife
Irresponsibly birds they fly spectacularly, aggressively,
Pursuing life there on th’ shores o’ Fife.
Wildlife always close at hand little footprints in the sand,
Pursuing life there on th’ shores o’ Fife.
The bays and braes along th’ shores o’ Fife
This feast thereby upon this earth increased existence and my worth,
Pursuing life there on th’ shores o’ Fife.
Am I foolish with my honesty to share this joy with thee?
Pursuing life there on th’ shores o’ Fife.
The bays and braes along th’ shores o’ Fife
Ocean choreography, exciting fighting strife,
Pursuing life there on th’ shores o’ Fife.
Ay it’s grand there on th’ shores o’ Fife.

QUIET LIKE IN NORTH QUEENSFERRY © Robbie Kennedy Bennett
Wheest! On th’ wend at North Queensferry,
where I chose to pause.
Quiet like in North Queensferry,
surveying surroundings because.
I’m drawn by a self-seeking search
early hours I respect,
man and his mettle did they bury
by the Forth in North Queensferry?
Steadfast the bridge a Victorian bequest,
a task men dangerously done.
Withstanding the elements of winter,
saturated in the summer sun.
Soon there’ll be a sound
North Queensferry has heard before,
those behind drawn curtains
inside closed door.
Steel upon steel
wheels on rails,
North Queensferry hasn’t woken yet
but I bet she can tell some tails.
Stories of man, sweat and blood labouring long,
a bustling bar a beer and a song.
What went to plan today,
and curse in a foul mouthing way,
what went dam wrong!
North Queensferry hasn’t spoken yet
but I bet she has heard every word.
Notable buildings,
witnessed industrial endurance
photographical assurance.
Man and his mettle of that age,
and their venturous quest to earn a wage.
One day there was a sound
North Queensferry hadn’t heard before.
Steel upon steel
wheels on rails,
North Queensferry
afore I’m gone c’mon and tell some tails.
Wheest! On th’ wend at North Queensferry,
where I chose to rest.
Quiet like in North Queensferry
Wheest! My self-order of respect.

Most often when I am travelling to Fife I stop by at North Queensferry to view the magnificent Forth Rail Bridge. Usually it is very early in the morning and very quiet.
On this occasion I drove into the village as quietly as I could taking care not to slam my door as I got out of the car. It never ceases to amaze me that the bridge was built before modern day machinery. The very place of North Queensferry must have been bustling with activity. Some of the buildings were around at the time and if they could speak what a tale they could tell.
